South, by the airport
Century Mile horse racing and slots
Century Mile pairs a one-mile horse racing track with a floor of slot machines. It sits at Edmonton International Airport, just south of the city, and there are no live dealers.

Live racing and race days
The track is a full mile around. When it was announced in 2016, the operator called it the only mile-long track in Western Canada. Live racing runs more than 35 weeks a year:
- Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse: roughly May to September.
- Standardbred (harness): fall and winter.
The Canadian Derby moved here from Northlands Park in 2019, and its 97th running was set for August 22, 2026. With off-track betting, there is horse racing to bet on every day of the week.
On race days, admission and parking are free. A card runs 8 to 10 races over 3 to 4 hours. A few things to know:
- Apron seating, in the grandstand and at picnic tables, is first come, first served.
- The grandstands are not wheelchair accessible.
- Outside food and drink are not allowed. There is an outdoor concession and a Gazebo bar.
- The Finish Line restaurant takes race-day reservations from the Monday before, at 587-416-6453.
Machines only, no live dealers

The floor has about 600 slot machines and VLTs. Roulette, baccarat and blackjack are electronic, in a social gaming space called the Replay Arena.
There are no live tables because Century Mile is licensed as a racing entertainment centre, not a casino. A 2021 request to switch licences and add ten table games was denied. For a live dealer, see our table games guide.
Getting there by car or transit
By car: from the QEII, take the exit onto Airport Road, then the first right.
By transit, the trip has three legs:
- The Capital Line LRT to Century Park, at the south end of the line.
- ETS Route 747 to the airport terminal, about 24 minutes. It has its own fare: $6 each way, with no transfer.
- The airport's free, on-demand shuttle. Call 780-890-8983 and wait outside Door 9 on the Arrivals level.
Route 747 runs from about 4:10 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., every 30 to 60 minutes. Ask about the shuttle's hours when you call. Century Mile stays open until 3 a.m., or 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. After a late night, plan on a taxi, a rideshare or a designated driver.
Food on site and around the airport
There are three places to eat inside:
- The Finish Line: tiered seating with a panoramic view of the track, and a buffet menu on race days.
- The Derby Restaurant and Celly's Sports Bar and Lounge, both inside the casino.
About four minutes' drive from the terminal, the Premium Outlet Collection has over 100 brand-name outlet stores under one roof. The free airport shuttle goes there too. RAD Torque Raceway, a 320-acre motorsport facility, is in the airport's Airport City district.
What visitors talk about
- Live racing is the main reason many people come, usually with a meal and a few bets. Derby day stands out, though some found the paid Derby table packages poor value.
- Friendly staff get the most praise. A recurring complaint is slow table or bar service when it's busy.
- The race-day buffet and the prime rib come up often. Some call the buffet good value, while others find the choice limited for the price.
- The floor comes across as clean, with plenty of machines, though some miss live dealers. Elevators, plenty of seating and free water get noticed too.
