Getting there by train, bus or car

The nearest train stop is Belvedere station on the Capital Line, at Fort Road and 129 Avenue. From there it is about an eight-minute walk to the casino. Trains run between Clareview and Century Park, about every 15 minutes on weekday evenings and weekends.

Belvedere Transit Centre also has ETS routes 53, 106, 107 and 108, regional route 415 to Strathcona County, and a FlixBus stop.

After midnight, the Route 2 Owl bus leaves Belvedere about every 30 minutes. The last ones go around 2:40 a.m. toward West Edmonton Mall and 3:20 a.m. toward Clareview. The casino stays open past the last bus every night, so plan the ride home before you settle in. Times change, so check the Belvedere schedule board before a late trip.

If you drive, there are about 600 surface spaces. A free heated underground garage holds about 300 more.

Shows, a small hotel and horse racing

Century Casinos opened the casino in November 2006 and the attached hotel in March 2007. The hotel is small, with 26 rooms.

The building has two showrooms. The larger one seats about 500 for concerts. The smaller one seats about 200 and hosts Yuk Yuk's Comedy Club shows.

There is also an off-track betting parlour for horse racing. For live races, see Century Mile, the racetrack casino near the airport.

For food and drink there is a restaurant, a sports bar and lounge, and two more bars. If you want a table late at night, check table hours first. The loyalty card here is Winner's Edge.

Nearby: the stadium, the EXPO Centre and river parks

Some hotel guests walk to Belvedere and take the train to Commonwealth Stadium for concerts and games.

  • Edmonton EXPO Centre: about 3.8 km away, roughly a five-minute drive. It hosts KDays every July and Farmfair International every fall.
  • Hermitage Park: a river-valley park a short drive east, with trails, a large off-leash dog area and a trout pond stocked every year.
  • Rundle Park: on the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River, a short drive south-east. It has a golf course, trails and the ACT Aquatic and Recreation Centre.

Both parks are open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

What hotel guests talk about

The staff get the most praise, from the front desk to the café and restaurant. The free heated garage is popular too, especially in bad weather.

Most guests like the food, including breakfast at the café, the portions and the prices. Some say there is really only one restaurant, and wish the café opened earlier.

Most guests describe the rooms as clean, with comfortable beds, though some call them dated. Complaints are occasional: a few guests mention noise from the air conditioning or rooftop units.
